Q: Are the Chrysler and Dodge Minivans really as poorly built as people say they are?
I need a 2010, new, Mini van for work and travel. But every review I’ve read slams both Chrysler and Dodge as having incredibly poor plastic interiors, antiquated and under powered engines, anwar page body warpage to the point where the rear door don’t close because the rear bumper plastic warps. Edmunds.com stops short of calling the 2010 a disaster on wheels. True, or False? ….And what is the status of Chrysler today in terms of bankrupsy? Is buying anything Chrysler worth the risk?

A: I’m going to not give an opinion, just give some information from Consumer Reports.

Chrysler has the lowest rated vehicles in every segment except the minivan and the Ram truck. Every vehicle in the lineup is rated “worse than average,” or “much worse than average” in reliability.

The number of Chrysler / Dodge / Jeep vehicles that come into my shop confirms this assessment.

Q: What would be a good 3 row SUV?
Must have good resale value, great passenger space, under 40,000
and probably leather seats AND A RELIABLE COMPANY eg. Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Volvo, etc. NO MINIVANS, Must look pretty good
2010 version no used cars
MUST FIT IN A GARAGE!!!

A: The Honda Pilot is always a good choice- it’s stylish, roomy, reliable, and has really good safety ratings and resale value, so your family and investment is safe (not to say that any car is a good investment). You can get a nicely loaded one for the price range you’re looking at:

Another popular big SUV is the Toyota Sequoia. It was redesigned recently and has a new, edgier, and more aggressive styling that is pretty handsome. Being toyota, it has really high resale value, and decent MPG for it’s class, definitely worth looking at:

It just depends on your necessities and your preferences, but both are excellent choices that fall into your price range/category. The Sequoia is a little bitter, while the Pilot is more compact, which is also reflected in the pricing. Test drive them both out and see how you feel behind the wheel of both

Q: Ugliest Cars??? What do you think?
who agrees these are some of the ugliest cars ever…

Acura TL (upcoming 2010)
BMW x3
Bmw x6
Mercedes gl class
Mercedes r class
Pontiac Aztec
Scion xB
All GM minivans
Chevy HHR
Honda Pilot
Acura RL (2009)
Nissan Murano (new 2009)
Chrysler Sebring & Convertible
Toyota Prius
chevy aveo
Toyota vendza
BMW 1 series

If you have any other ideas please leave them in your answer!

A: Agree: new TL and RL, HHR, R-class, Murano/FX35/FX45/FX50 (and Rogue/EX35), 1-series, X3, X6, Aveo, Sebrings, all Scions, Aztec

Add: Ford Flex, Chevy SSR, Grand Caravan (and all its offshoots), PT Cruiser, all Geos, Audi Q7, Armada/QX56, new TSX, Civic coupe/TSX sedan, Honda Element, Acura MDX and RDX, new Passat, Cayenne, the new shape of Volvos (as of 2002ish).

I could go on. I hate what GM has done to the new cars and most manufacturers seem to be messing with the good things. Buying used never felt like a good idea to me but it has also never looked more attractive (literally).

Q: Just how did an illegal manage to fall through the cracks and get a security job at Jaxport?
An illegal accused of stealing two Sheriffs Deputy badges, and a .22 caliber pistol falsely obtaining a , and listing Georgia as his place of birth , would he had gotten amnesty under immigration reform ?It may take awhile before the local, state and federal officials hammer out what went wrong.

But we’ve learned what triggered the investigation that led to the Brazilian man’s arrest Tuesday.

Jaxport spokesperson Nancy Rubin says Aldenor Abrantes Filho was eventually arrested. He had only worked five shifts.

“The individual was driving a vehicle that just didn’t seem quite right to our very experienced security officer. It looked to have been configured to represent a police car”.

The Department of Homeland Security said Aldenor Abrantes Filho, 31, was arrested Tuesday for possession of a firearm by an illegal alien.

Filho is accused of falsely obtaining a Florida drivers license, and listing Georgia as his place of birth when he got a job with U.S. Security Associates, a security contractor based in Jacksonville.

He is also accused of stealing two St. Johns County Sheriffs Deputy badges, and a .22 caliber pistol.

Rubin says Filho was arrested Tuesday morning at the port’s Blount Island terminal by Jacksonville police and U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers.

“I just want to point out the situation worked as it should, and the individual in question was on the premises on very few occasions” said Rubin.

However, Filho managed to fly under the radar since he was hired last month. Rubin didn’t say if JAXPort is planning to change their security measures, or, stop using the contractor who hired Filho.

According to the complaint filed by Customs and Border Protection, Filho entered the United States on a six-month visitor’s visa in 2003 and never left. A petition for more permanent immigrant status was denied in 2007, the complaint says.
Or how much will this cost taxpayers ?HOUSTON — Raids on 14 illegal bus companies here have shed light on a seedy underground system that transported illegal immigrants all over the country and that sometimes held them captive until their relatives paid exorbitant fares, federal law enforcement officials said Thursday.

Using minivans, the companies were carrying hundreds of illegal immigrants from Mexico to cities across the United States, taking back roads and traveling primarily at night to avoid the authorities, according to criminal complaints filed in Federal District Court. Twenty-two people were arrested earlier this week on charges of using their businesses to transport illegal immigrants.

The bus companies worked exclusively with smuggling operations, officials said. The owners paid commissions of up to $300 for each passenger to smugglers who had brought the immigrants across the Mexican border. Then they held the immigrants in safe houses for days, often under guard, until they loaded them onto vans, according to court documents.

Agents said that at one of the bus companies raided this week, Super Express Van Tours, they found the operators had used pit bulls and armed guards to keep the immigrants from leaving a safe house next door to the office.

“These were not legitimate transportation companies like Greyhound,” said John Connolly, the deputy special agent in charge in Houston for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The companies also charged far more than legitimate carriers would for the trips, asking them to pay as much as $650 for a ride to cities like Los Angeles, Atlanta and Miami. The fee was usually paid at the end of the journey by relatives of the immigrants, officials said. In some cases the drivers refused to release the passenger if the family could not pay, the complaints said.

What do U think ? Is stealing ok as long as it is intended to provide a better life ?

A: Too many of these illegals are falling thru the cracks in our penal system and in jobs. We need better ways to determine these ones who are committing acts of fraud etc… Seems more and more of them are committing fraud, so much for them saying they were scammed by buying fake documents huh.

Q: What should happen to these smugglers of illegal aliens?
What should happen to the illegals who put themselves into this position in the first place?

If this one company has been caught so many times in the past smuggling these illegal aliens, why were they still in business and not shut down in the beginning?

If you feel the smugglers should be punished but not the illegal aliens, please explain why the hypocrisy?

Houston Bus Companies Were Links in Illegal Immigrant Network By JAMES C. McKINLEY Jr.
HOUSTON — Raids on 14 illegal bus companies here have shed light on a seedy underground system that transported illegal immigrants all over the country and that sometimes held them captive until their relatives paid exorbitant fares, federal law enforcement officials said Thursday.

“These companies did not treat their passengers as persons, but rather as commodities to be bought and sold,” said John T. Morton, an assistant secretary of homeland security, at a news conference Wednesday.

The raids in Houston signified a shift in strategy, officials said. In the past, immigration agents have intercepted individual drivers and arrested the illegal immigrants they carried, but this time the government went after the owners and operators of the bus companies, a critical link in the smuggling network.

Some of the companies had been operating for years. Super Express Van Tours vehicles had been stopped by the police and the Border Patrol seven times from 2004 to 2009, in several states, and each time the driver was arrested for transporting illegal immigrants, according to a criminal complaint.

The owner, Fermin A. Tovar, who was arrested Tuesday, charged riders $200 to $600, depending on their destination, but disguised the true fares on passenger manifests using a code, the complaint said.

The money for the fares was either wired to Mr. Tovar at Western Union offices or deposited by his drivers into his bank accounts at branches across the country, always in amounts small enough to escape the notice of regulators, officials said.

In one two-and-a-half year period, Mr. Tovar took in $900,000 in cash deposits to two bank accounts he controlled, the complaint said.

A: Just because she is married to an illegal, she takes up for their every crime, some people. The story says, they paid these smugglers to bring them here. They put themselves into this scenario and deserve what they get. Give all the same sentence whether it be prison or firing squad.

Q: Dodge Grand Caravan or Nissan Quest?
I have around 10 grand CND , and I am on the market for a used minivan. I have narrowed my choices to two , 2008-2010 Dodge Grand Caravan or a 2005-2008 Nissan Quest. I am asking for an opinion on which one to choose. I have found a Caravan for around that price and there are plenty of Quests in that price range. Are there any problems of which i should be aware of? Are there any better minivans for that price range?

A: I currently own a 2004 Nissan Quest. I bought it with 55k miles and its the SL model , it has the power back liftgate, and a power sliding door. I love both features and being able to use the remote on it. It also has heated leather and DVD system in it. I paid 10,500 for it . I recommend the Quest, the styling of the interior is neat, and has plenty of power, The only thing i’ve found bad about it is in cold weather the Tire Pressure monitoring system will say the tires are flat, when they are not. The turning radias , trying to turn into tight spots is difficult, but i expected that. I can not say anything about the dodge grand caravan, but highly recommend the quest, if you can get the SE model of the quest, it features both power sliding doors, and some have a SKYVIEW option with 5 sunroofs, and is freakin awesome.

Q: Why do people put big rims on ANY kind of car?
Im not hating on big rims, some cars can pull it off if they have the right customizations (IE paint jobs, vinlys) but i think it also depends on the model of the car…

i see a lot of people like to buy cars that make them look like “ballas”
Dodge Charger/Magnum
Chrysler 300’s
Lincoln Navigators
Ford Expeditions
Chevy Tahoe/GMC Yukon
Infiniti G35/G37
Caddillac Escalades
Cadillac CTS
Most old two door muscle cars from the 70s and 80s can pull of the big rims of 20 inches or bigger like the Chevy Monte Carlo

But dont people ahve the sense to know what cars dont look good with giant rims examples
Nissan Altimas (i own a 2003 model, stock rims)
Chrysler Concordes
Toyota Camry’s (the 2007-2010 model in particular)
Any minivan
Any Ford Taurus
Chevy Cavaliers or Cobalts
Dodge Stratus/ Chrysler Sebring

Dont get me wrong, Im all for customizing your car and truly making it your own, but i dont think rims are always the way to go, especially rims bigger then 20 inches, only big cars can pull those off, mid size cars and small cars, and minivans especially can not pull them off. But why is it that so many people INSIST on putting giant rims on these kinds of cars

Im not against custom rims on smaller cars, but i dont think people should go so big.

Why do people do this, their cars look stupid now?

As for the bigger cars I listed, big rims can go beautifully with the right paint scheme and car, saw beautiful Chrysler 300 that had chrome 24’s and was painted a deep purple with gold sparkles
altmas can pull of 18 inch rims, the se-r models comes standard with them

A: trying to keep up with the next guy is my guess….i think they all look retarded but i guess they have a right to free expression even if they ruin their ride. my truck looks good with 22.5s on it but its a kenworth.
