Q: When is the Toyota Hybrid Minivan (Estima) going to be for sale in the USA?
A: The Toyota Estima Hybrid has been on sale in Japan since 2001, and the Toyota Alphard Hybrid has been on sale in Japan since 2003. Both are minivans/MPVs. (Back when the regular Estima was sold in the US, it was renamed the Previa. The Previa was last sold in the US in 1997, and “replaced” in the US market by the Sienna.)

There’s been rumors of a hybrid version of the Sienna to be sold in the US, ever since the Estima hybrid went on sale in Japan in 2001… Who knows when/if it’ll be sold in the US. At least Toyota has publicly stated that they plan on offering hybrid drivetrain options in all of their model lineup by some date in the future…

If you’re willing to go through the cost and hassle of grey market importing a used Estima or Alphard hybrid from Japan into the US and upgrading it to US safety/emissions specs, you could probably have one within a few months.
Q: About what year did they start putting sliding doors on both sides of a minivan?
Just curious. I’m looking to buy a minivan, and my mom saw one for sale. She didn’t know what year it was, but said it had sliding doors on both sides. I think they just started that in the past few years, but I can’t remember. Anyone have an idea?
A: it is new, but not that new because my dad used to have a ‘97 dodge minivan and it had door sliding on both sides.
Q: SRT-4 minivan?
how hard and what year should i use to make a SRT-4 minivan? cant seem to find any of the 89-90 turbo vans for sale
A: You should be able to use most any minmivan that had either the 2.2 or 2.5 engine, whether it was turbo or not.
If you like the look of the newer vans, there were plenty of them that came with a 2.5 engine, just have to look to find one. They’re usually available at a decent price since most don’t want the 4 cyl.
As far as how hard it would be, can’t answer that for you, but it probably isn’t a simple job. It would be a custom job that would likely require at least some custom fabricating and you would need to use the wiring and computer from the SRT-4 (or you can use a PT Cruiser GT turbo engine). That might require some custom wiring to be done, as well.
Q: Why did a van full of old people take pictures of my house?
I woke up this morning to see a minivan full of older people (around 50’s, I’d guess) pulled up to the side of the road across from my house. The driver was glancing around and a woman leaned slightly out the window to take different shots of my house.
After less than a minute, they drove off without doing the same to other houses. My house is completely unremarkable, not extremely old, not extremely new. We’re not a super wealthy family or anything.
My first thought was maybe something to do with insurance, but I don’t think it takes a van full of casually dressed people to do that kind of work. And my boring suburban neighborhood is not some kind of tourist attraction either. Nor is the house for sale.
This is kind of creepy. Any ideas?
A: Maybe once upon a time a mass murderer lived there???
They like yard gnomes???
You were unaware that you were standing in front of your window naked????
You have a cute dog???
They’re part of a cult looking for their next sacrifice????
They are gathering info to put together an article about average American homes?
There was a typo in a swingers ad stating wild orgy’s are held there on Saturday nights???
Your house has been noted on a list as a haunted attraction???
It was a group of family members driving around remembering their childhood???
A busload of practical jokers out to freak people out????
Great Aunt Thelma was showing everyone where she lost her virginity???
The possibilities are endless……
Q: how much do you pay for insurance for a mini van?
Im interested in buying a 2004 Dodge Caravan SE minivan. I would like to know how much do you pay for insurance for a similar vehicle.
it has 60,000 miles and is on sale for $8,988 + 6 months of warranty. I saw it today and is so pretty!! i hope i get the loan.
A: Insurance is pretty cheap. Don’t worry about it. It is cheaper than a sportscar. It should be the same for what you are paying now.
Q: Is it possible to trade in 2 old cars for credit at a Toyota dealership for a future sale later in the year?
I have 2 old cars in the driveway that we don’t really use. A 1990 Acura Integra and a 1992 Toyota Corolla. Both are on their way out and yet still in somewhat good physical condition for their ages. Would a Toyota dealership take them off our hands and give us credit for the sale of a future car? Do dealerships do things like this? We’re looking to get a Toyota minivan but not this instant. But the cars are just sitting there barely being used. We’re tired of getting them fixed every 6 months or so.
A: yes but they’ll give you almost nothing for them. You’ll be luck if you get 1000 each for the cars. I recently traded in a 93 740iL and a 99 Chevy Astro for a mini cooper, I got 2000 for the BMW and 1900 for the Chey. You have to buy the new car when you trade in your old cars though.
If you want to get rid of your cars try car max, if they pass inspection they will give you auction price which is generally higher than trade-in value. They will give you cash even if you don’t buy one of their cars. They have to pass their inspection which is almost an hour long.
Q: What is the best way to travel from Heathrow to Whitstable?
We will be arriving at Heathrow at noon (Oct. 31). There are six of us, four adults and two kids. We originally planned on renting a minivan at the airport, because we will be using it for a week, and need the flexibility of a vehicle. After checking with AutoEurope about a 7 passenger van(because during our week, there will be 7 of us including my daughter who is studying in Canterbury), the sales person said that the 7 passenger Seat Alhambra would not be large enough to transport 6 people and our luggage(unless we each put our luggage on our laps!). So, my plan was to get to Whitstable whre we will be staying, and renting from there. What are our options, then, of getting from the airport to Whitstable?
A: You can take the Piccadilly Metro line into London’s Kings Cross/St Pancras station. The metro trains run frequently during the daytime. It’s a 40 minute trip. It will be easy to get a train headed to Kent from there.

Q: what is the website for nissan cars?
i was planning to buy a 2008 nissan sedan, suv or minivan. i thought http://www.nissan.com would be the website, but to my shock nissan.com is not at all nissan car website.
instead its some weirdo site about computer sale. what is going on?
every car company has its own name as its main website.
this is insane.
A: That was actually a fairly famous case. The guy who owns Nissan.com is actually named “Nissan.”
http://www.spectrum.ieee.org/careers/careerstemplate.jsp?ArticleId=i100302
He registered the domain in 1994, and supposedly has been using the name “Nissan” for his business since “Nissan” was still calling themselves “Datsun” in the US.
This is why he has not lost the lawsuit.
And the lawsuit is why he won’t sell the domain to Nissan Auto.
Basically the whole thing is the result of multiple fuckups on Nissan’s part.
as for what Nissan Motor’s domain name is, use a search engine.
Q: Has anyone had experience with Mighty Auto Sales in Neenah, WI?
They have a minivan that I’m interested in buying for my family. The price is great and the car seems great also. I can only find two reviews on Yahoo Local which are both very negative. I’m just trying to figure out if those two are the vocal minority or if this place actually has a problem. I’m interested in any feedback, positive or negative.
A: Yes, and I wouldn’t recommend it. I brought my son with me when I was getting a new car (he likes to look at sports cars) and while I was talking to the salesman, one of his coworkers picked up my son and fondled him!
Q: Driving newly purchased vehicle with no plates?
We bought a minivan friday evening, & we got insurance on it this AM. We need to be able to drive it to get inspected, then over to DMV for plates which is 10 miles from here and then the mechanics (well put the plates on at the DMV parking lot). We have the bill of sale, but bought from private party so there are no temp tags on it. Will we get a ticket for this if pulled over?
ok, we have current tags/plates on an old vehicle that doesn’t run very well…could I temporarily put them on the new van to get it down to the DMVs?
hockeyfan….good idea, I am getting too much conflicting advice here. Here in MO you MUST have the vehicle inspected before getting plates….and I can’t exactly carry it over to the station that does that
PS….the guy that wrote in about buying plates a month in advance is an idiot….how could someone buy plates when they had plans on buying a new car, their old one just breaks down? your probably a rich kid & never had that problem…get a life.
thanks “judge” I didn’t think one could swap out plates, tho a friend here also told me you could but that didn’t sound right to me.
thanks loco…I didn’t buy it thru a dealership, I bought it from a private party. I was told by the man I bought it from that it would be safe to drive as long as I had the bill of sale. I drove it 30 miles to get back home (yikes) but that was on a deserted 2 lane road & I was afraid of driving it in town that way, didn’t really like the idea of even getting it home that way.
A: In Missouri you can get 30 day temporary plate in order to get inspected and all of your items neccessary for your actual plates for $11.00. Have some take you to the local branch and get one, bring your Drivers License, insurance, and vehicle title.
Q: is it worth the purchase?
Hi there,
Need some good advise. I saw a minivan (2005 Honda Odyssey Touring edition) for sale in NY for $16,000.00 . the guy said the vehicle has 2owners. With 80,000 miles on it. Clean it and out, every accessory works (power window, door, Navagation, dvd entertainment). No accident (fr. Car fax)
Is it worth the purchase ?
A: Average wholesale on that van, adjusted for mileage, is $15,150. and average retail is $16,900. It sounds like a deal to me!
Q: Why GM will build again the Camaro ?
Is a very slow sale sport car, with a no-earth friendly V8 engine.
The world need hybrid cars or alternative fuels, not selfish 2 seat cars.
Thats the way GM will survive the Japanese challenge ? With the Camaro ?
Why they dont build real cars for everyday, to compite againt the 300,Camry,Altima,Accord,
Civic,Sentra,Corrola, etc.
Why GM doesnt invest in a new minivan design, since the Quest,Sienna,Odyssey are far better that the Uplander-MontanaSV6,Relay,Terraza.
A: Cause G.M. has a tradition of making JUNK!!!!! Why stop now??

A: I have a 2005 mazda mpv with auto everything. It has 40990 miles on it. I pay 50 bucks a month for full coverage. I paid 16000 for it 2 years ago with 3000 miles on it. I am 37 and married, if that helps. But you can call an insurance agency and get a quote. Its mostly your age and driving record. A mini van is considered a station wagon for insurance and is one of the lowest rates.
Q: Transmission seal leak?
94 plymouth grand voyager minivan has a transmission seal leak. It doesnt leak when parked but needs about 1/2 qt with every fill up at the gas station. it’s not mine, but for sale $600 bucks or best offer. The rest of the van is great condition. Is it worth the effort?
A: This depends on which seal. If its one of the axle seals, no problem. If it’s the torque converter seal, you have to remove the transmission to change it.
Q: Car smart people! please help me out i need ya! thanks a bunch!?
ok i’m 15 and my mom is getting a new car so i can have her old 1999 ford windstar mini-van! ick! so anyways she said we could sale it and use the money we get out of that to buy me a car. my question is how much could i get for a 1999 ford wind-star minivan in pretty good shape.
another question what is a good car for me i was thinking a jeep or somthing like that? what do you guys think? thanks so much!
A: goto KBB.COM to get an idea of what the van is worth. It will atleast give you a starting point on the price you ask for.
