Q: SRT-4 minivan?
how hard and what year should i use to make a SRT-4 minivan? cant seem to find any of the 89-90 turbo vans for sale
A: You should be able to use most any minmivan that had either the 2.2 or 2.5 engine, whether it was turbo or not.
If you like the look of the newer vans, there were plenty of them that came with a 2.5 engine, just have to look to find one. They’re usually available at a decent price since most don’t want the 4 cyl.
As far as how hard it would be, can’t answer that for you, but it probably isn’t a simple job. It would be a custom job that would likely require at least some custom fabricating and you would need to use the wiring and computer from the SRT-4 (or you can use a PT Cruiser GT turbo engine). That might require some custom wiring to be done, as well.
Q: Is it possible to trade in 2 old cars for credit at a Toyota dealership for a future sale later in the year?
I have 2 old cars in the driveway that we don’t really use. A 1990 Acura Integra and a 1992 Toyota Corolla. Both are on their way out and yet still in somewhat good physical condition for their ages. Would a Toyota dealership take them off our hands and give us credit for the sale of a future car? Do dealerships do things like this? We’re looking to get a Toyota minivan but not this instant. But the cars are just sitting there barely being used. We’re tired of getting them fixed every 6 months or so.
A: yes but they’ll give you almost nothing for them. You’ll be luck if you get 1000 each for the cars. I recently traded in a 93 740iL and a 99 Chevy Astro for a mini cooper, I got 2000 for the BMW and 1900 for the Chey. You have to buy the new car when you trade in your old cars though.
If you want to get rid of your cars try car max, if they pass inspection they will give you auction price which is generally higher than trade-in value. They will give you cash even if you don’t buy one of their cars. They have to pass their inspection which is almost an hour long.
Q: Unhappy wife! What to do?
My wife has been planning to have a garage sale at our home. I volunteered to take our four children, ages 2, 5, 7 and 8 camping so she could be freed up to do it without an problems. She was planning on doing it at our home. A couple of days ago, she changed plans and told me she is going to take all of the items to a friend’s neighborhood where they will be having a neighborhood garage sale which will attract more potential buyers. So, the plan was that she uses our minivan to take the items there. Today, while at work, she calls me and tells me she realizes she will not be able to fit the folding tables into the mini van. I could have told her that a few days ago but she did not mention to me that she planned to bring the folding tables. So, she calls me (mind you, the kids and I are leaving tomorrow after work for camping and I have a meeting to go to tonight) and wants me to find a solution right now about how to get everything over to her friend’s house. I told her that she should have planned this better. I felt she was dumping the entire problem into my lap. I tell her she should just end up having it at our house and she just gets all mad at me. So, I called a friend of mine to ask if I could use his flat-bed trailer to move all of the stuff and he says he’s really busy tonight and needs to use it for his business. So, she’s still being a bit rude with me likes it’s my fault that no solutions are found and I was wondering what you would do in this same situation. I must add, I did tell her she’s acting like a spoilt child who is not getting her way which, as you can imagine, did not help the situation any. Thanks for any helpful advice.
A: First of all it isn’t your problem. She can easily sell the stuff at your house, it isn’t the end of the world that she can’t take it to another location. She can ask a friend to come and get the tables if it is so important to her. Otherwise continue with your plans with the kids. I would love to have a caring husband like you. He would go off if I asked him such a thing!
Q: how low can you ask when buying a new used car?
Im looking to buy a minivan in a couple weeks and am doing my research prior. I have narrowed it down to the caravan, quest and town & country, probably a used with less than 20,000miles, 2007-2008 model. Most of the ones Im finding in the Sarasota Florida area are around $13000-14000, how much can I bargain on this price? I know the automotive industry is hurting but im not sure to what extent and how much I can haggle the price down? should i start seriously low and work my way up? I am paying cash for the sale also.
A: Getting the best deal when buying cash is very easy.
I have used the below technique for many years when buying cars/trucks.
Step 1
Find the MSRP of the car/truck new or used for that model, year and options.
Step 2
Multiply that MSRP by 70% this would be the Wholesale price .
Step 3
Multiply this number by 112.5 % and this will add back on 12.5% overhead and profit for the dealer.
Step 4
If your buying a used car/truck take the mileage and multiply this by .35 to .40 cents per mile based on the condition of the car/truck and subtract from the above math.
Step 5
Go into the dealer to test drive your possible
future car and when you get back to the dealership start your offer with the math above.
Step 6
Dont show any emotion towards buying the car/truck.
Simply write your number (from the math above) on a
business card or scratch paper along with your phone number and tell the salesman that if they want to sell the car/truck contact you.
Dont haggle, get in a huff or show any other emotion. Simply state to contact you if they are interested in selling the car for “your” price.
I am telling you this works on all cars and trucks new or used./ been using it for over 20 years.
I just priced a new truck and they are giving quotes right next to the numbers calculated above.
This tells me that you can even do better than the math above right now in this crappy car market.
maybe add back 4% vs 12.5% and start there
Remember:
Take the emotion out of truck and car buying, use the math above and you will always “Always” get the best deals and it will be a rewarding experience to boot.
If your in control (in the showroom) you can make these deals consistantly

Q: Car smart people! please help me out i need ya! thanks a bunch!?
ok i’m 15 and my mom is getting a new car so i can have her old 1999 ford windstar mini-van! ick! so anyways she said we could sale it and use the money we get out of that to buy me a car. my question is how much could i get for a 1999 ford wind-star minivan in pretty good shape.
another question what is a good car for me i was thinking a jeep or somthing like that? what do you guys think? thanks so much!
A: goto KBB.COM to get an idea of what the van is worth. It will atleast give you a starting point on the price you ask for.
Q: Used cars are inherently sold as-is, right?
I sold a car about 2 months ago to a coworker for $3500. On the day we carried out the sale, he said he only had $3400 and would pay me the other hundred on the next payday. He’s a nice guy and I assumed him to have some integrity, so I agreed to the deal. A few weeks later I asked him about the money. He claimed that it cost him $100 to get the car detailed so that he didn’t owe me that money anymore. As far as I was concerned, I wasn’t getting it detailed for him. It was a great price for the car, even dirty (and I never said I would get it detailed). We argued about it for a little while, then he agreed to give me $50 on the next payday. The next payday rolled past and I never saw him. Later on, he claimed that he left the money with someone else to give to me. I followed up with that and found out he was lying. Finally, through another coworker, he gives me $40. I went after him to tell him that he still owed me $10 more. He refused to pay. Again, his basis was that he had to get the car cleaned. I figured since, in his mind, he could just change the price on me, that I could do it also. I then demanded that he paid me $60 to make up for the initial sale price. He refused and I was tired of arguing, so called him some names and then let it go. A few days later, he comes to me with a $1500 bill for a transmission rebuild and tells me that he will take me to court if I don’t pay him for the transmission. I never once made any kind of impression that the car would have a warranty on it. As far as I’m concerned, it’s karma. He didn’t pay me the full price of the car, so the transmission blew up on him. Mostly I’m just venting because I’m stressed out, but I am slightly worried that there may be a period of time where I could be held liable for the transmission damage. The car never gave me any indication that the transmission was going. It was always a very reliable car for my wife and me. We got rid of it so we could get a minivan. What do you think?
A: You are totally in the right.
If you signed the title over already, then you won’t see your $100 again. Lesson Learned.
Unless he can prove you defrauded him or implied a warranty, he can take you to court and the judge will throw the case out.
Tell him to take a hike.
Q: ok for all of you car smart people! help me out here!?
ok i’m 15 and my mom is getting a new car so i can have her old 1999 ford windstar mini-van! ick! so anyways she said we could sale it and use the money we get out of that to buy me a car. my question is how much could i get for a 1999 ford wind-star minivan in pretty good shape.

A: Condition Value
Excellent
$4,025
Good
$3,615
Fair
$3,130
This is if you sell it to a private party. If u sell it to a retailer then it would be less than this.
Regarding what type of car u should get. It all depends on your style. I will give u some advice though. Dont get anything with good acceleration or a fast car because that leads to all sort of trouble. When I first got my license I ended up having my licensed suspend 6 months later. So have fun and good luck to you
Q: What is the best way to travel from Heathrow to Whitstable?
We will be arriving at Heathrow at noon (Oct. 31). There are six of us, four adults and two kids. We originally planned on renting a minivan at the airport, because we will be using it for a week, and need the flexibility of a vehicle. After checking with AutoEurope about a 7 passenger van(because during our week, there will be 7 of us including my daughter who is studying in Canterbury), the sales person said that the 7 passenger Seat Alhambra would not be large enough to transport 6 people and our luggage(unless we each put our luggage on our laps!). So, my plan was to get to Whitstable whre we will be staying, and renting from there. What are our options, then, of getting from the airport to Whitstable?
A: You can take the Piccadilly Metro line into London’s Kings Cross/St Pancras station. The metro trains run frequently during the daytime. It’s a 40 minute trip. It will be easy to get a train headed to Kent from there.

Q: What is a fair price to offer the car dealership for this used SUV?
My husband and I went minivan/SUV hunting today with a budget of $20,500. We told the salesman our budget was only $19,000-19,500. The one we decided on is a 2003 GMC Envoy XL Sport Utility 4wd, with lots of extras. He then sat us down, and showed us a paper he printed out on this vehicle, stating the price of the vehicle, which was $18,889 and included taxes, taxes, and $399 for sales commission (yes, it actually says that). The total was around $19,800. I checked the Kelly Blue Book value with all the options our vehicle had and they value the car at $18,985. Now, this car is in pristine condition with low mileage for the year (like 43,000 miles). What do you think a fair price would be for us to offer? Will the salesman get more than just the $399 stated on the paper? It is at a Marine Chevrolet dealership in case you are wondering. We want to get the SUV tomorrow, so any answers will be appreciated. Thanks for answering!!
I am not trading in a vehicle for this one – this is going to be a second vehicle. My zip is 28546. The SUV has a 4.2 liter engine, 6 cylinder, 4 wd automatic, with a/c, pwr steer, pwr windows, pwr door locks, tilt wheel, cruise control, am/fm, dual front air bags, abs 4-wheel, roof rack, privacy glass, SLT (whatever that is), rear air, multi disc cd plyr, premium sound, front side air bags, leather interior, dual pwr seats, sun/moon roof, running boards, premium wheels, and OnStar. I am already preapproved by my bank, so I will be going in tomorrow with a check for alot more than the price of this vehicle that was given to me (but HE won’t know that, hahaha).
A: I sell used cars for a large Chevrolet dealer. It does not really matter how low the miles are. The vehicle is already 5 years old. Think of it this way, If you finance it for the traditional 60 months (5 years) Your car will be 10 years old when your loan matures.
Basically, It does not really matter what Kelly Blue book says, that is just a guide, Kelly Blue book does not write you a check or buy the vehicles.
Basically, at best, you are looking at about a $17,000 vehicle, we would sell these all day long at $16,900 or $15,900 on our lot.
If he sold you the vehicle for the $18,985, basically all said and done, your salesman just made what is called a “4 pounder” which = about a $1,000 commission to him.
Hope this helps

Q: Does anyone know if i have any recourse???
I purchased a 97 plymouth grand voyager 2.4L 4cyl minivan on the 4th of March. I have had nothing but problems. When i got the van, the gentleman, and i use this lightly, told me “it needs plugs and wires and i an ignition coil, that is why it has a rough idle.” Well, i have since replacing all of the above, found through the local dealerships diagnostic, that the head is bad and needs “replacing”!! I paid $1,000 for this van and did not sign anything but a bill of sale for Williams Auto Exchange, which is a licensed used car seller. There was nothing saying “as is” at all. Do i have any course of action?? I don’t want the money back, because i “need” a vehicle. What can i do.
The KBB.com can’t even give a value due to the poor conditions given the engine problem. The mileage is 214,000, The person who sold it to me has known me for over 15 years and not only told me it was a simple fix but also lied to my father about it when i started the van up. I live in Elizabeth City, NC
A: Hello
You don,t have a problem your auto dealer does. Here’s what to do. All states have licensing boards that regulate used car dealers. Here in Georgia its called, the used car dealer registration and licensing board, under the the Secretary of State office. Go down there or call and make a formal complaint that you were given a warranty and tell them the rest of the story. It is pretty much fed and state regulation that by not signing an as-is form, you were given a “implied warranty” and/or a “expressed warranty” and those warranties don’t have to be in writing. They should send a non-friendly inspector to the dealership without notice. It will take time and you should not look for this as a solution but as revenge. That’s just how recourse works. Good Luck BS
Q: Is this reply from Craigslist a scam?
Hey, some dumb ho be e-mailing me about an item I have for sale on Craigslist. I think it’s a scam; anyone with similar responses/experiences with people think so too? Here’s the communication her and I have had so far:
FROM: Shawna
“Still have it
PS:Email meyour Craigslist sales link is very important so that i can
be very sure of what am asking about that if you have many item listed
okay
Thank you”
FROM: Me
“Yes I do. It’s actually fully built still as well, all assembled, in working order, and ready to use. It can easily slide into an SUV or Minivan or truck of some sort, maybe even a large car as it isn’t all that big. I can, however, dismantle it if necessary. Let me know!
By the way, here’s the link: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/spo/1691184335.html”
FROM: Shawna
“I am completely satisfied with the advert and price and the payment will get to you within 2-3 working days. After which you have confirmed the payment will arrange picking up the item through a mover from www.uship.com, so you do not need to bother about the shipping. Therefore, I will need you, 1. Name to be on the Payment, 2. Home address including the zip code, 3. Cell phone so
that I can send text messages for easy communication because I am
hearing impaired.
Ps:Certified Check is my method of payment
Thank you”
FROM: Me
Excellent. The address where the treadmill is located is (Address). The name to be on the payment is (Name). My cell phone number is (Number). But one question; would you like me to send it as it is, all set up and in working order, or would you prefer that I dismantle it so you can set it up for yourself?”
FROM: Shawna
“Hi, I was unable to message you earlier than this, because of my busy schedule. I got the confirmation from the Bank that the payment has been released out and was mailed by the courier Service. It will be delivered to your address 3days henceforth according to the courier, But some mix up arise from the bank that mailed the payment to you. Bank claimed that I requested for my monthly pay check to be issued out to you but am very sure i only made a request for the cost of the goods to be made out to your name A check of $4,950.50(Four thousand nine hundred fifty & 50/100 dollars) was mailed to you instead of the actual cost of my purchase, with this. I have been trying to get it solve with all my possible best, but I think you will be the person that will have to solve it, and which I believe you can with trust and honesty…? .This is a terrible mistake, and I was just informed about this so please once the check is delivered please take it to your Bank and have it cashed as advised by the accounting officer at the Bank. You will then deduct the cost of my purchase. The rest of the fund should be sent to my mover via Western union the same day you do receive the payment so that my mover can make the trip over for the pick at once.
**I will need your immediate response via email assuring me that i can trust you to handle this with care and have the remaining fund returned appropriately**
Thank you.”
FROM: Me
“No, I’m good. The deal is off, this is a fraud. I don’t believe you at all; what a BS story.NO thanks for your business or interest, bye.”
Then she sent me an e-mail that was completely void of any text, then 24 hours later she sent me this, completely disregarding what I had told her:
FROM: Shawna
“I am worry and still waiting on you to know if you did get my email
regarding the mix up on the payment coming to you if you will handle it
for me with trust and care?
Thanks”
Now I believe this is a definite scam. What does everyone else think?
Thanks for the replies! Now say this somehow isn’t a scam, and she really DID accidentally send me that check somehow. Could I get in any kind of trouble for keeping the money and robbing this bitch for all she’s worth? Thanks!
A: Scam, Scam , Scam.
Good choice by you, way to go!
Q: Air conditioner repair using an “A/C Bypass Pulley”?
I have a 1997 Chrysler Town and Country minivan. According to my mechanic, the air conditioner compressor is “shot.” Therefore it causes the serpentine belt to break. The first time we replaced the belt, it ran fine for about 2 weeks, the belt broke and we replaced it again and the 2nd time it worked for about 10 minutes.
Now the van is in our driveway, we had intended to sale it for a few hundred dollars as-is just to rid ourselves of the vehicle. We don’t need it and don’t want it, so we were willing to take the loss.
Now my husband’s uncle says that we can get an A/C bypass pulley and new belt for about $50 and fix it, but have no air conditioner. That’s fine, we’d probably still sale it as-is, but just at a higher price tag considering it would be operable minus the air conditioner.
So with all that out of the way, my question is: Will this work?
My husband’s uncle is known to stretch the truth ALOT and I don’t want to spend even $100 (parts plus his labor) to repair the van and it still not work. We’ve sunk over $150 in belts and labor so far and I just don’t want to bother if it isn’t going to solve the problem.
A: you can buy a a/c delete pulley for around $20 to $30 dollars and they are pretty easy to install. so even with a new belt you should only spend $40 to $50 dollars
Q: Seller unwilling to refund my money?
I purchased a used kitchen set from an individual. When I arrived to pick it up in my minivan it was too large therefore I needed to rent a UHaul truck. I still paid the owner of the furniture and agreed to pick it up the following Saturday. However the following Thursday our Ac unit went and because our unit is old and discontinued we can’t get replacement parts. Therefore we need o get a new system for $7000. My husband and I will need to use avery penny we have to get this done as we hacve 4 children who will be home during the day due to summer vacation.
I contacted the seller and explained my situation and the seller is refusing to refund our money. The ad we bought the furniture from didn’t state all sales are final and I still have a copy. Am I owed a refund legally?
A: Not really…you bought a product and now have what is know as “buyers remorse” because you can no longer afford the item. It is, however, still yours. The former owner is under no obligation to refund anything (unless you can prove it is damaged and was sold in bad faith) and can even charge you storage if you don’t
go pick it up.
Q: Why do companies get away with this kind of crap?
While the national headlines focus on efforts across the country to force Wal-Mart to pay more for its workers’ health insurance, an obscure story in Missouri reveals just how “sick” Wal-Mart’s health care policies can be. The story involves a former Wal-Mart worker who received some medical care benefits from Wal-Mart, but now the retailer, which made $10 billion in profits last year, is suing the disabled worker to get the company’s money back. According to the St. Louis Post Dispatch, last June Wal-Mart decided to sue Debbie Shank, who stocked shelves at night at a Wal-Mart in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, so she could spend the days with her three kids. Debbie was in her minivan in 2000 when she was hit by a truck. She suffered severe brain stem damage, and has been left totally disabled. After the accident, her Wal-Mart health insurance paid for her medical care. But when Debbie sued the trucking company, and won a financial settlement of roughly $900,000, Wal-Mart decided it wanted Debbie to pay Wal-Mart back. But Debbie’s husband says the money they received from the lawsuit has been used to set up a trust fund to help pay for Debbie’s care, since she now requires expensive nursing home care. Wal-Mart says it has a legal right to try to recoup its medical expenses from Shank, once she won her lawsuit. “This is a very sad case, and I think many people naturally have an emotional and sympathetic reaction,” a Wal-Mart spokeswoman told the Post-Dispatch. “But the reality is that we are required to protect the assets of our health plan so that it can pay the future claims of other associates and their family members. Unfortunately, it’s just not feasible to start making individual exceptions.” But Wal-Mart knows that to the public, it will appear that they are trying to get money from a disabled woman, her three children, and her husband. Shank is confined to a nursing home, and will not work again, and cannot financially help her family out by working nights at Wal-Mart. So Wal-Mart is worried that its lawsuit against a disabled woman will not seem right. “Not everyone will understand this,” the company spokesman admitted, “and I’m sure that we will get a fair amount of criticism.” Debbie Shank’s lawyer said, “If somebody got some money from a lawsuit and used it to buy a new home they didn’t need or a European vacation … that’s one thing. But that’s not the situation we’re dealing with here. In view of the unfavorable publicity that Wal-Mart is getting around the country …I’m surprised they’re pursuing this against their former employee, particularly since she remains so devastated and so in need of these funds.” Shank’s husband, Jim, says his wife is still so mentally confused that she can’t always identify which son she is talking to, and that she is wheelchair bound, and, due to her brain stem injury, can only move one arm and two fingers. The Shank family got around $417,477 from the lawsuit, and that money was put into a trust to pay for Shank’s future medical bills, which will be very substantial. But Wal-Mart wants to get their medical expenses back, so they can deposit them in the company’s Health and Welfare Plan. Shank says that if his wife loses her case to Wal-Mart, she will lose more than money. She will lose her private room at the nursing home, her wheelchair-accessible van and the personal care worker who helps her with her activities of daily living. Jim Shank has health insurance, which pays for some of his wife’s on-going medical bills. Shank works at several jobs to make ends meet, including real estate sales, and work at a local department store.
A: They get away with it because of crroked lawyers, and a justice system that favorsthe rich. Also, government regulations are very lax, while the legislators award themselves goldplated health care and pension plans. It has been this way forever.
