Q: IS A PONTIAC G6 A GOOD 1ST CAR?
Im 16 and
I found a 2009 pontiac g6 for sale at a dealer and i really like its sportiness, it has a v6 and its a four door sedan, and its dark red with black cloth interior, it has 26k miles and it is $14,995

but i was wondering it isn’t a chick car is it?

AND DON’T TELL ME TO BUY A JAPANESE CAR BECAUSE I WILL HAVE NO FOREIGN CARS IN MY GARAGE!

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.yoll.net

Q: Will you still be able to get a 2009 Pontiac G6 in April of 2010?
Will they still have new 2009 Pontiac g6’s for sale in April of 2010 or will I have to fight to find a good used one?
Thanks.

A: Pontiac G6s are no longer being manufactured, so the only way you’ll be able to get a new one is if there are some left at the dealer that nobody has bought yet.

Q: 2008 pontiac g6 gxp or 2008 mitsubishi lancer evolution mr for sale?
I’ve looked around already but can only find new cars. i want this car for my son who is getting his first vehicle so if anyone can help i would appreciate thanks. i almost forgot, i would prefer a black one but any color is good.

A: The Evo is a faster car and handles better. But it costs a lot more to maintain. And insurance on it is a lot higher because so many young kids who have one get into accidents and get so many tickets their license is revoked. So I would not recommend it as a first car. Keep in mind that if he’s under 18, YOU are liable for any accident he gets into. And it affects your insurance rates too.

The G6 GXP is a fast car too. Although not as fast as the Evo. Maintenance costs a lot less and insurance is not nearly as bad as on the Evo. But it still can get your son –and you– into trouble. You need to carefully think this over.

Since you only have the two cars in mind to buy him, I’d choose the G6. But like i said, think it over carefully. If he’s a minor, you are the one liable for what he does while driving it.

Q: Aproximatly how much would a used 2006 Pontiac G6 cost?
I dont know much more, like the how many miles are used or anything but i saw this car on one of my walks that was for sale and i really liked it but I have a price range.

A: Condition, Mileage and Options are the biggest factors in determining the value of a used vehicle in your market. And you don’t have enough info here to even make a guess. Have the car checked out by a trusted mechanic before you buy, and do your homework. KBB is one source, but I’ve seen them be WAY off (both high and low).

The car itself seems to be pretty good generally, but you might want to look into purchasing an extended warranty.

Good Luck!

Q: Should I buy a 08 Pontiac G6?
I found a sale on the Pontiac G6 for 13K, brand new one with 24 miles and another with 0 miles on it. I am not familiar with the G6 and I want what ever car that I get to last me a long long time. This sale caught my eye because I only have about 12K to spend and it has 0 to hardly no miles on it. Should I get this car or purchase a used honda or toyota with probably 60+ miles.

A: I had one as a rental it’s fun to drive but I don’t think it would be a car to last you 5-10 years. To be honest I think you would be much happier with a Toy or Honda. I bought my Toyota 1999 with 123,000 miles on it, still have it 4 years later nothing but reg maintenance done it now has 200,000 miles and I don’t plan on getting rid of it anytime soon. GM may go under soon so that raises questions. For 12K you can find a newer toy or Honda with a lot of things included in it. I also have read that the rotors warp pretty quickly on the G6. I Do like the G6 though nice looking car. Check out the Scion Tc made by Toyota.

Q: Should I buy a Pontiac G6?
I am going to look at buying a 2006 pontiac g6 tomorrow for $9998. It has 65,000 miles on it. Is this a good car? Because ive noticed there are a lot of used ones for sale, so i was wondering if they aren’t a good car?

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.deep-ice.com

Q: is the dealership trying to rip me off? lol?
ok so a dealership has an 05 pontiac g6 gt for sale it has 70,000 miles and they were asking $7,795..i wanted to buy this car but someone beat me to it so i looked at another 05 g6 gt that has 50,000 miles on it…everything was the same on this car other than the color and miles but when i ask the price they say $12,999 but they would take $11,999..does that make sense that the car would be that much more because of 20,000 miles….?i dont know?

A: An ‘05 G6 for even $11,999 is overpriced. That’s a 4-yr old car that probably retailed for $18K new.

I’d keep searching.

EDIT ** — Renewed — dealers don’t use KBB. They use auction prices to determine what they are going to give for a vehicle. KBB is nothing more than a nationwide guide and should never be treated as gospel when it comes to car values.

Q: Is it possible to sale a car that i just bought?
We bought it from the dealership it is a used 2007 Pontiac g6 gt. I was thinking that i would be able to afford it, but it’s not working out, and i wanted to know how i can either sell it or something…can i do that. I was thinking i could trade it in for something cheaper, is that something i can do?
I saw a car driving down the street today that was a white camaro that was $3,900 and i could buy that right now in cash but i need to somehow get rid of the pontiac.
Thanks in Advance!!
Oh i purchased it in August of this year, and started payments on it in september.

A: Find out what you owe from the bank. Put it for sale on
autotrader.com or cars.com or your newspaper. Trading down
is not something you wanna do, dealers know your in a bind
and will rip you off, more than usual. You may have to sell
for a little loss, but you can make it up by buying your next
car dirt cheap!

Q: Why is Pontiac offing the Grand Prix for the G8 name?
Why is Pontiac (GM) getting rid of the Grand Prix name for the G8. It would have made more sense for them to say the Grand Prix got another make over, instead of cutting it off all together.

If poor auto sales are the excuse, it’s not the Prix’s fault, its been selling just fine for the last 40+ years with the same name.

So by mid 2008, Pontiac will be selling the G5, the G6, and the G8 (all very different models with similar names. Didn’t Ford and Mercury try this (Naming all their cars with F’s or M’s) which failed miserably since nobody could remember all of them, or mixed them up?

And I know the new G8’s are based off of Australian designs (as was the recent GTO), but they won’t be imports, right?

Any other Grand Prix fans not happy about this. The G8 is a good looking car, though it could have been better with the Grand Prix name on it.

A: The G8 will be an all new vehicle with rear wheel drive. Quite the departure from the front wheel drive Grand Prix of today. The Grand Prix is a great car but the design is becoming dated so and update is neccessary. The new vehicle will be another step toward the global vehicle designs of GM so that these vehicles built and sold all around the world will share many key features and parts.

Q: Is this a good deal??
I want to get a new car. I have a 2004 hyndaui accent GL model. I owe $6k on it. Most dealers want to give me $3-4K for trade-in. I found a dealer that will give me $6k. I would be free from payments. He’s a private/local dealer. He doesnt have a lot of cars on his lot. I was looking at a Ponitac g6 GT 2006 with 39k miles. It is for sale at 15K. I’d like to have payments around 200 a month. My insurance wouldnt go up much because its 4door and white. It’s got 17inch chrome rims :) and I LOVE the freaking thing! I’m just worried about licensing and taxes. I’m a college student… so thats why. Anyway, I know my current car is a rip-off and I hate it so i want a new one. What do y’all think?

A: It’s a good deal, especially without the current rebates on the NEW G6 and zero interest payment, college grad program with $800 and a buyer loyalty or switch from another make for $750 credit. Consider how long the payments are for!!! and total cost, together with how long the car may have reliability and warranty.

Q: I don’t know what to do anymore.?
Why is my life so screwed up?

I’ve never been that well off, my wife made about 1400 a month, I was medically unable to work, our rent was 800, and we barely had anything. She trusted my opinion and rarely thought for herself.

About a year ago I was put on lexapro, an antidepressant. And it worked, made me really happy, to the point of being delusional… I was browsing a site one day and saw a Mazda Miata for $10,000 that had 16k miles and overall looked good on paper. I called the dealer, “I have pretty horrible credit and was wondering if I could get some info on this car”

She was happy to oblige and ended up talking me into (not hard when I was on lexapro) driving 120 miles to buy this car. My wife didn’t argue, trusting my judgment. I made it to the dealership at 8:30am to find “oops, it looks like we sold that car a week prior, someone just messed up and didn’t remove it from the site… but we do have other options for you.”

So I looked for a car and finally settled on a Pontiac g6, it was equally impressive on paper (and in person). I signed all the papers with my wife, and we drove it home.

About a week later I get a call “uh… we couldn’t find financing so we need you to go ahead and bring that g6 back…. But don’t worry… we have another car, that we’ve already secured financing on for you”

So the next day I drove all the way back and they had a new 2009 ford focus for me. I signed a few more papers and was about to leave and he said “alright I’ll send your financing and title information with this other sales associate, and he will follow you to your home.”

“Why is that I asked.”

“You’ll need to write him 2 checks for your down payment of $2000.” oh ok… had I not been on lexapro I would have told him where to stick that new car… but instead it all seemed to make sense and writing 2 checks was fine, despite not having a dollar in my account.

So I get home, write the checks, call my insurance, add the new car. I was happy the rest of the day. It wasn’t till about 2 weeks later when my trial of lexapro ran out and I didn’t have the money to go get more… that I started getting flooded with worry… this time legitimate.

I called the dealership and they said the checks bounced and that I could go ahead and pay them with my card… I said I’d call them back.

So my wife and I decided to save as much money as we could, not do any fun things, just save. We saved up 750 and I paid the first payment to the dealership. Then my credit-card, my cell-phone, and my Les Schwab accounts all went unpaid.

we were talking things over about how we could afford certain things when her mother calls to tell us that she’d be putting the house we’re living with up for sale and that we have a week to get out…

Well luckily we had saved enough for a security deposit and first months rent. So over that week we got a new apartment for 1100 a month. So we were even tighter on money and had more bills.

Fast forward to a month and 2 weeks ago; the car has been repossessed and all of my debts are in collections ($23,000). My wife who has been in a downward spiral, snaps one night when my sister was over and attacks her, when I got in-between them to pry her off she began attacking me and threatening me, I called 9-1-1 and told them she was unstable and that she needed help. They came and took her to the hospital. When she came back she told me she was getting a divorce and asked if I would sign a co-petition to make things cheaper and smoother.

I agreed and now I’m living with my parents in a small miserable room. For $200 a month, the job market in my town is dead, my job pays me around 680 a month, and I get $36 a month in food-stamps. I owe about $24,500 in debts that collectors are constantly hounding me about. my car (1987 Mazda 626) is on its last leg (has caught fire internally a couple times, the computer is dead, every time you start it, it smells like fuel, and switching gears kills the engine, did I mention it’s an automatic?… But I don’t make enough for financing, and if I did, my credit is ruined.

I have ulcers going through my entire system, and need to have checkups, but I owe my doctor and can’t afford to pay it, but can’t be seen till I do.

I have barely enough to keep my prepaid cell phone on so that I can receive the frequent calls telling me not to come in to work in 2 hours at 2pm, instead come in for the graveyard (same day).

I just want a new start, a glimmer of hope, a car that gets from a to b, and to have my stomach problems fixed… but it seems I’m going to have hell for the rest of my life for 4 months of screw-ups.

Any Ideas guys? (I know this isn’t a normal question)
-Geremy

P.S. Spare me the “It’ll get better, have hope, etc.” I’m tired of people saying that… it’s basically like saying “I have no idea, but I feel bad if I don’t say something, however meaningless it may be.”

A: Join the Military. Don’t tell them about any stomach issues or depression problems….my best friend had the same problem, we both joined the military 7 yrs ago and we are both doing fine today. If you are worried about being out of shape…don’t worry recruiters are more than willing to put you into a delayed entry program so that you CAN get into the service….trust me its not as bad as the world makes it out to be….I learned the best things ever and on top of that I have two degrees they paid for now I work for the government at 24 yrs old making more than I ever imagined….you can do it…trust me I suffered from divorce, a suicidal father and the list goes on…if you need anyone to talk to my email is aligaux@gmail.com I’d be more than willing to give you insight because I know how it feels.

Q: To those who recently submitted answers to my previous question?
Thanks for your answers, some were helpful and some weren’t. But I am currently buying a G6 also. I recently let my daughter have my Chevy Malibu but she’s too tall for it. I had to get something bigger because both of my children are tall. Paying on both cars is not a problem, but with all the money I’ve put in it these last couple of years to keep it running and up to date, I need to sale it so that I can buy a car for her. My financer was right because the mileage on it is HIGH, so I do need to sale it, but if I cant find anyone to take it off my hands, then I will pay it off and try a different approach. But once again thanks to all who answered. If you have anything negative to say, keep it to yourself. Thanks!!!

A: That’s a great rule of thumb. I’ve gradually moved my criteria for ‘getting rid of a car’ from 200,000 mi. down to about 60,000. Thats 10,000 mi after most warranties expire, and for good reason: The parts start wearing out one by one leading to a dominoes effect!

Q: Car Trade in Responsibility?
I bought my Ford Focus in February of 2005. It ran great, other than some little things to get fixed here or there. I traded it in last week for a used pontiac G6. I signed all the paperwork, and was on my way, other than the fact that the dealership was to to some body work on it to get rid of minor dings. Great. Dropped it off yesterday. I recieved a call from the sales manager today stating that my Ford was marked a lemon. I had no idea of this. Now, they want me to give them 2500$ extra to make the deal work. I had no idea about any lemon mark on my cars Carfax. What do I do?

A: Did you sign on the dotted line?

Did they sign on the dotted line regarding your trade?

What does the contract say, specifically, regarding your trade in?

If the contracts are already signed and in place, tell them to have a nice day, assuming there’s no clause in the contract regarding this situation. I would contact an attorney to discuss the legality of any such clause.

Realistically, they wouldn’t give a shit if they sold you a lemon. Why should you care? Obviously, it’s not having the same problems that had it marked as a lemon if you haven’t had to do anything above and beyond routine maintenance. I would suggest spending the small chunk of change to run the VIN number on CarFax and investigating their claim that it’s a lemon.

Most likely the manager is just pissed off that the sales rep didn’t sell the car for as much as the manager wanted for it. That’s the feeling I’m getting from your side of the story.

Q: Why is Oprah so popular with women?
People think she is such a generous person, by giving away so many things on her show. Any celebrety can do that. She certainly does not pay for those things out of her pocket. All she does (or has people do for her) is convince companies to donate all those things so she can look good giving them away on her show! In reality, it is just advertising for the companies, and for her show! The people who get those gifts — especially cars, have to pay taxes on all of those items, and most can’t even afford to keep them! Those Pontiac G6’s she gave away had the worst gas mileage of any new car, but all Pontiac got was lots of sales, because – hey — if Oprah gace them away, they must be good. Are people really that gullible?

A: the force is strong with darth oprah,,, she speaks uponn the fears and hidden desires of women and exploits it to be something good, that only they and not men can relate too,,, the only men she does have and promote are emasculated eunichs that come off as non-thrteatening, like an airbrushed model in a woman’s magazine,,, that and subliminal messages being piped across the airwaves and in her studio,,,

Q: toyota corolla?
i went to look at a 1999 t-reg toyota corolla 1.3 g6, when i took it for a test drive everytime i accelerated there was a strange noise coming from what sounds like the gearbox. the sales men told me all these age toyotas make this noise. is this true.

A: The 5 speed boxes of around the same age did have a problem with gearbox bearings failing. It could be heard when accelerating hard and then lifting off, sounds like a heavy whine.
The 6 speed box is quite rare at that age and I personally haven’t had a problem with them.
At the end of the day it’s your money, if you fell unsure walk away.
