Q: What do you think of a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee as a used SUV to buy ?
I am looking out for a used SUV.. and thought the Grand Cherokee is a good option. But would like some advice if I should go ahead. Whats the good price for a 2005 model with about 50k miles in it ?
A: Depends on if its a dealer or not. They are great vehilces with wonderful longevity. I have two of them. A 95 with 289,000 and a 99 with 175,000 miles on it. They are both the Inline 6 cylinder 4.0 and if your gonna get one get the 6 cylinder, not the v8.(Bad tranny set up,bad gas milage). If it is in nice shape id pay up to $10,000 and no more! The resale value in years past has been bad so try to knock off as much as you can now, so you dont lose later. Do not buy from a dealer on this. You can find a nice one for thousands cheaper from a private seller. I know because ive been working for the local Chrysler dealer 29 years and i dont even buy mine from here. Its just easier to buy from a dealer if you dont have any mechanical ability so thats up to you. Make sure and check Autotrader.com for a good comparison of what you think you should spend and lowball the heck out of whoever is selling there Jeep. Remember its tough out there right now and people need money anyways, especially right after Christmas.
Q: How much can I negotiate on a used SUV?
I am going car shopping tomorrow and would like to look at some used SUVs, since prices are so low right now with gas prices. I found two that I really like one is $17k the other is $16k. There are probably 100 of these exact SUVs within the area and many of them have been sitting on the lots for months. How much do you think I can get them to come down on the price of these two vehicles? I am buying it outright with a check (cash) if that makes any difference.
Thanks.
A: Take at least 2500 off or 20%,…and tell them you are not paying dealer prep! That is BS,….
Q: How many kms are too many kms for a used SUV?
I’m looking to buy a used SUV. I’ve narrowed it down to Toyota RAV4, Hyundai Sante Fe and Kia Sportage. I’ve heard that non-US cars typically last longer, however, if the used SUV’s I find are around 100,000km what should my expectations be with regards to price and necessary maintenance.
Thanks for any assistance.
I’m looking at cars that are about 3 years old
A: depends on how old it is, if a certain car is ran 100k kms in 10 years, its better than a car ran 90k kms in 5 years.
help me?

Q: What to consider when buying a used SUV?
I’m a D.J. and I’m looking for a SUV preferably a Range/Land Rover, Envoy, etc. Something reliable(based on opinion) and nice to look at. I was looking at 98′ and up editions but I get mixed reviews on older cars so I’m completely lost as this will be my first vehicle. What are some of the variables I should be looking at when buying a used SUV? Especially 1 that can potentially be 10+ yrs old?
I appreciate all thoughts!!
Thank You!
A: 1.Carfax(VERY IMPORTANT)
2. Mileage(Might not want to get something over 200,000 miles)
3. Reliability(Go to reviews on kelleybluebook.com)
4. MPG(You travel a lot, you don’t need a large gas bill)
5. Carfax(VERY IMPORTANT)
6. Space(You have lots of equipment and need the room)
7. Cost for repairs if it breaks down(If it’s too expensive to fix minor repairs, it’s not worth it)
8. Safety(When driving a lot, safety is important, does it have a good crash rate)
9. Condition(A D.J. has to look good in his car, don’t get nothing raggedy)
10. Sound(They way the vehicle sound is a great factor on how long it will last)
Hope this helps!!! Good Luck!
Q: What is the best make of used SUV’s?
I am looking for a used SUV that has 4 wheel drive, is not too small, and is high off the ground. What is the best make that would fit my preferences? I am looking for USED SUV’s.
A: Isuzu Trooper, Range Rover, Toyota Land Cruiser and some Jeep products.
Q: I thinking of buying a used suv next years at a dealer! My credit score is bad, Can I still get a good deal?
I thinking of buying a used suv next year at a dealer! My credit score is bad, Can I still get a good deal? The vechile I want cost between $6,000 to $9,000 , I looking for a low payment, I will put down $2,000 Dollars.
A: You can get a good price, but unless you are willing to pay cash for the transaction, the financing will kill you.
That is if you can get financed at all.
Q: I am in need of a vehicle. I need a used, SUV that gets good gas mileage and is safe in a crash. Any ideas?
My Dodge Grand Caravan got totaled this week, I need another vehicle. I need something safe (kids) and high up (SUV type) and good on gas mileage…and, oh yes, used as I need to pay for it with the insurance money for my Dodge..which would be in the $12,000 range.
A: All new cars are safe in a crash. They wouldn’t be able to sell them if they were not tested for safety. Also all SUVs get crappy milage, buy a normal car if you want it to be cheap to run. Unless you have more that 3 kids you don’t need an SUV.
I was in a crash at 70mph in my parents car when I was 10. We were not in a big SUV and we survived unharmed simply because we wore our seatbelts.
You are safer in an SUV, but you also make the roads less safe for everyone else who is not in an SUV, especially if you’ve got kids in the back distracting you.
Q: im looking to buy a used suv with 4×4?
im looking to buy a used suv, im looking at toyota 4runners, land rover discovery, nissian xterra. please tell me the pros and cons of each one and other mechanical problems that is known to occur.
A: I drive a Toyota Tacoma, its been flawless, Land Rovers are not
reliable. I would choose the 4runner 1st, resale value and reliability.
Consider the xterra 2nd if you can get a steal of a deal.
Q: How can I find a used SUV that uses displacement on demand technology, where half the cylinders shut down?
Half the cylinders shut down at certain speeds and give good fuel economy.
A: The hemi in dodge uses that also in certain years.
Q: How long can I let the an SUV not to be used?
my apartment is just 2 blocks away from the office. therefore, i dont need to drive everyday. there are instances that i havent use my SUV for 5 straight days…literally, its just in the parking lot on the same location. Is this bad? Should I at least start the engine for a few minutes every other day specially during winter?
A: you dont have to start it more than once a week, it can go for a month if the battery is fairly new, but if you end up with a dead battery, run it for a half hour and then start every other week and run for 15 minutes
whats nice about modern cars is fuel injection, you dont’ have to prime them, just turn on the key, wait 10 seconds and start it
Q: What used SUV Should I buy, and why? I want to spend less than $12,000.?
Do I want an SUV with higher miles for that price, but a vehicle like a Nissan or Toyota? Or something like a Ford Explorer or Grand Cherokee with lower miles… What’s going to be the most dependable, long lasting, minimal maintenance, and best vehicle for Northern Winters?
Thanks!
A: Toyota all the way
My Seqouia has 210000 and still going strong, just routine maintenance
my sons Avalon has 325000 same deal
my daughters camry 265000 same deal
A suburban we bought , two transmissions, water pump, alternator, air conditioner etc etc – sold it with 92000 miles
it spent a combined 3 months in the shop in 2.5 years
I would NEVER buy another American car
Q: What’s the best USED SUV for gas mileage?
I am looking to buy a used SUV between1984-1998, what do you have and what mileage do you get?
A: RAV4 & CRV, great gas mileage and still realiable vehicles. will take you anywhere.
Q: Bought used SUV want to trade it in how can I?
I BOUGHT A MID SIZE SUV FROM KIA BACK IN NOVEMBER 2006. I KNOW NOW THAT I GOT HOSED ON THE DEAL. OWE MORE THAN THE SUV IS WORTH. WHAT CAN I DO TO GET FROM UNDER THIS?
A: all that and youre going to push it to the junkyard????
thats a wayste of money
Q: Can an SUV be used as a surveillance vehicle?
I know that minivans are usually the best choice, but is it possible to use an SUV? And which SUV would be the best?
I am trying to get a job with a company that provides surveillance for companies that request it. They told me that I would eventually need to use my own vehicle, but it needs to be able to hold the equipment.
A: Any vehicle can be used if you’re good enough.
Q: Ok, is it even worth trying to trade in a SUV on a used SUV from a different car brand than the one you have?
Lets say I have a GMC denali 04 90000 miles on it, saw a VW tourage(SP) 2006 w/30000 from a honda dealer. Are they even going to touch the GMC and give what the blue book is on it?
A: Yes they will touch it.But youre going to have a heart attack when they tell you how much their willing to give you:(!It would be worth it yes, because toureg is a fuel efficent suv and a Yukon is not.Plus get rid of that gas hog while you can there only going to decrease in value!
